Mail needs an account and credits. Sending also needs a paid plan or a credit top-up, because mail goes out from vfrey’s own domain. Free accounts can draft but not send. It sends from vfrey’s own domain through the hosted vfrey service, which is not live yet. Free features do not need it.
Mail is for outreach: to sponsors, to brands, to creators you found with Creators, and updates to a client. An agent can write drafts. Only a person approves a draft and sends it. Nothing is sent by itself.

The rule

A draft moves through separate steps, and each is its own command or button.
  1. Draft. It writes a draft and sends nothing. It is free.
  2. Approve. A person reads the draft and approves it. It sends nothing. Editing a draft takes the approval away.
  3. Send. A person sends one approved draft, once. It is counted against your monthly send limit.
An agent drafts freely. An agent never approves or sends unless the person says so for that specific draft. The remote MCP server has no approve or send tool at all, and the server refuses an approve or send that comes from an MCP grant (403).
The command line runs as you, with your own sign-in. The server cannot tell your agent from you there, so the rule is one the agent follows: the vfrey skill tells it to draft freely and to ask you before every approve and every send. Read each draft yourself with npx vfrey mail show --id ID, or in the Mail screen.

Set up who mail is from

Mail goes out as Ana via vfrey from vfrey’s domain, with replies set to your address. Every message ends with a footer that names you and gives your postal address and a working unsubscribe link, because outreach rules expect that. A new reply-to address must be confirmed first: vfrey emails a link to it, and nothing sends until you open it. npx vfrey mail identity with no flags shows the identity and whether it is confirmed. Run it with the same flags to send the link again. --org NAME adds your organization’s name to the footer.

Commands

Every command takes --json and --api URL. The dashboard has a Mail screen with the same steps: the identity panel, the drafts, an editor, and separate Approve and Send buttons with a confirm.

What stops a send

A send is refused when:
  • the draft is not approved, or was edited after it was approved;
  • your reply-to address is not confirmed;
  • the recipient opted out, or the address bounced or complained. Do not try to get around it;
  • your organization reached its daily limit (50 messages a day by default);
  • your organization is on the Free plan and has never bought a top-up (drafting still works), you are out of credits, or vfrey is paused.
A refused send is not charged. Each message has a one-click unsubscribe, and an unsubscribe stops mail to that address from your organization. See Troubleshooting for the error messages and Plans and credits.
